To give myself a wee break from that, I thought I'd show a couple of photos of things we've grown - and eaten. First of all is an apple which Joanna grew in her garden.
She said it was the only one on her tree but, if you're only going to be able to have one apple, you might as well make it a good one! It was delicious! Tart and juicy and just what a homegrown apple should taste like!
And next a few potatoes which we grew.
Douglas planted the seed potatoes in a potato bag and this is what he pulled up last night. We had them with our salad and, boy, they were good. Plenty more to come which is fab!
We also have some tomatoes and peppers in the shed which are beginning to turn red and the raspberries are still producing a few fruit here and there. There are carrots and a couple of cucumbers which should be ready soon. Homegrown food really tastes so good! :o)
All were delicious! Homegrown stuff rocks! :)
ReplyDeleteYep, it does. :o)
DeleteLovely to see your homegrown things. I love a new potato, always tastes much better fresh from the garden.
ReplyDeleteAli x
You're right, Ali. They tasted so good. :o)
DeleteHome grown food is so delicious. We're enjoying all sorts of things at the moment, the hard work at the beginning of the season is definitely worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely the best time of year for homegrown stuff! :o)
DeleteOnce you've enjoyed homegrown veggies... you never want to go back to store-bought stuff. That's one beautiful apple... glad it was tasty!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Freda. I can't wait to taste the carrots! :o)
DeleteAlas we don't have room in this garden for veggies 9unless we dug up the shrubs and flowers!) However we have another excellent crop of lavender.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have much room for veggies either, Anne. Douglas literally squeezed the peas and the carrots into a tiny corner up the back of the garden.
DeleteYum, they look good. I may forgo my veg plot at the moment with selling up, but I still have rhubarb, lemon tree, blueberry, strawberries and some herbs. Of course the berries are still sleeping.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll have a veg plot at your new home, Susan. :o)
