my Christmas Supernova is finished! πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ»

Oh my goodness! I finished my Christmas Supernova wallhanging and I absolutely LOVE it! You might remember last month I told you that I was filing away all the diagrams and notes from my Supernova quilt when I found the original hand-drawn sketch with a note on the bottom about using Christmas fabrics.

I was very excited to make it in Christmas fabrics so I did. I missed out all the extra stars around the big star - just did the big star on its own.

Here's the finished hanging.

For the back, I didn't have enough of the Christmas print so filled it in with a red stripe. It's the back so won't be seen when it's hanging on the wall.

And my quilt label which I machine-embroidered on to a scrap I had leftover from the star parts in the hanging.

I have put this away until Christmas time - although I did wonder if I should just find a space and hang it up now. I mean, 6 months early isn't too early is it?

Here's the details of what's in it:

MY CHRISTMAS SUPERNOVA WALLHANGING:
originally designed by me in February, 2012.

Finished size: approx 48" square

FRONT:
2½" squares - Christmas fabrics - 304
2½" squares - white - 60
2½" HSTs (half-square triangles) - half white, half Christmas fabrics - 120 so 240 pieces
TOTAL: 604 pieces

BACK:
Christmas fabric - approx 50" x 36"
Red fabric - approx 50" x 14"

BINDING:
dark green - approx 210" x 2¼" wide

I am soooooooo happy with this. Do I really have to wait until December to hang it?? πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ»
