I go up to the sewing room to sew and about an hour later, I have to stop because I'm just too hot and sticky - yuck! I have a list as long as my arm of things I want to get done but I'm getting nowhere fast - or even slowly - with said list.
I'm not complaining about the heat - honest! We're just not used to it and we're certainly not used to not having rain for days and days and days!!
One good thing - our pea plants are filling out nicely.
I was in our local thrift shop today and picked up this great bargain.

I got all of those buttons for the princely sum of 50p! Crumbs, if I wanted to buy buttons like that in a shop, one of those bigger buttons would cost me way more than 50p all by itself. I have no idea what I'll use them for but that doesn't matter too much. I mean, 50p! Wow!
It doesn't look like we're getting any rain any time soon.
Is this really Scotland??
I feel absolutely sapped at the moment with all this heat - really difficult to do anything for any period of time. So jealous of your buttons - especially those lovely multi coloured ones - I'm sure you'll find the perfect use for them x Jane
ReplyDeleteIt's just so unusual for us to have this kind of weather at all never mind for days and days and days. I hear that we've got another 2 weeks of it! We'll all be like greasy spots if that's true! :oD
DeleteGosh it's hot, dare I say too hot, for me anyway. Beautiful buttons, what a good find :) xx
ReplyDeleteI know, Cheryl. I don't want to complain about the heat either but, lawd, it's hot!!
DeleteWow, is that hot? We are in the middle of winter and yesterday it was 21 deg, but that is unusual for us and was a record for July in Melbourne. (they had 23). I've decided the weather is crazy, as we've had loads more frosts than we've had for many years, so far this winter. I agree about the price of buttons too.
ReplyDeleteIt's very hot for us, Susan. We never get temperatures like this and certainly not for days and days. Our usual summer weather is a day or 2 of sunshine and warmth followed by days/weeks of rain. I'm actually missing the rain! *gasp*
DeleteI'm loving the heat, but my brown furry babes are not! And I agree, it's hard to get things done but luckily my little sewing room is north-facing so is a wee bit cooler. Have a happy weekend xx
ReplyDeleteI had most of the curtains closed yesterday afternoon in a feeble attempt to keep some of the heat out of the house. I hope you can keep Ben & Jerry cool! Give them a hug from me. :o)
DeleteI would consider those temperatures autumn/spring and although I would grizzle about the lower end, you'd never hear a peep of complaint as to the upper (except, perhaps, that they're a bit on the low side). it's all relative, though, I know that. What i consider cold would probably be quite balmy to you folk! Love those buttons!
ReplyDeleteThese temperatures are hot for the east coast of Scotland. We hardly ever get weather like this so I'm definitely trying to make the most of it! :o)
DeleteI'm hoping that the weather is going to last while we're on holiday. I haven't picked up my crochet hook for ages though, it's just too warm to be holding yarn.
ReplyDeleteI hope the weather stays good for your holiday, Jo. Have a great time! :o)
DeleteIsn't it glorious, make the most of it while we have it. What wonderful bargain buttons too ~ Sarah x
ReplyDeleteIt is glorious, Sarah. Let's hope it lasts for a good while longer. :o)
DeleteYour peas look delicious. They wouldn't make it to the table with me. Pop them open and just eat, lovely. It is very hot but I love it. My family think I'm mad. Bargain buttons, they look beautiful especially those large ones. Hope you find a nice shady place, it doesn't look like it will be cooler for a while. Ali x
ReplyDeleteWe didn't spot most of those peas were there as they were hidden under the plants. Like you, we usually just eat them straight from the plants. I actually froze the ones I showed here as most of them were huge and just a bit tough. I'll use them in stews or soups ... when the weather cools down a bit. :o)
DeleteI have started looking at the £1 rails in the charity shops - sometimes it's worth buying a garment for the buttons on it!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Anne. You could get some zips that way too. I had to pay £1.70 for a 7" zip yesterday at my local shop and, boy, did that sting!
