more embroideries and stars

Still no dressmaking going on around these parts but I'm keeping myself busy with other things. A few appliqués and embroideries:

Since the trees above looked so good on the black starry fabric, I did something similar with these next two but, to me, the fabric is actually too busy and distracts from the embroideries.

I added a pocket to my swimming bag to hold my watch whilst I'm in the pool. I used it this morning and the pocket is actually a bit small so I'll just add another bigger one on to the other side of the bag this week.

I've been keeping on with my patchwork stars. I decided I prefer the white stars with the coloured outsides so I've made all these that way around.

I've got another seven cut out and sewn up in various stages:

There are still more fabrics sitting waiting to be cut so plenty for me to get on with.

  2. Your embroideries get nicer and more creative all the time, Anne. I especially love the LOVE and Jolly ones, how fun. You're really enjoying that machine, aren't you. :)

  3. Hi Anne
I love the embroideries - perhaps you could sell them in the Tartan Bee? I would buy them, as I don't have an embroidery machine. Love the stars - a good way of making a dent in the scrapbasket.

    1. That's food for thought, Anne. Thanks for the idea!

I keep hoping I'll make a dent in the scrap baskets but I always end up with more than I started with! :oD

  4. Yes, that fabric is a bit busy, but the trees on black stars is gorgeous. I like you stars too.

    1. Thanks, Fran. I plan to do those ones again on either a dark, plain fabric or at least one that isn't so busy!

  5. There may be no dressmaking happening but lots of other lovely things are coming out of your craft room. I think the snowman embroidery is really lovely and don't find the fabric design too busy for it, I think the little bird with the holly is so cute though.

    1. Thanks, Jo. The wee bird is a cardinal. I was thinking I could make its back brown and give it a red breast and then it might look like our robin! :o)

  6. Looks like you're having lots of fun with your embroidery machine. And the stars too -- I'm currently quilting a little quilt with those same stars and I love them (although, mine are pieced a little differently -- less seams, which is a good thing since I'm hand quilting LOL).

    1. I realised after I'd started that I could make the big square in the middle of the stars as a single piece but I had the (vague) idea that it would help use up scraps if I made it out of 4 smaller squares. It doesn't seem to be working though - I have more scraps now than I started with! LOL

  7. Your festive embroideries are gorgeous. I'm sure your dressmaking mogo will return soon, but for now you're so busy with other crafting anyway. The stars are coming along nicely. Take care.

    1. I'm working on the theory that, if I ignore the dressmaking mojo, it'll return when I'm not paying attention. It's a theory anyway! :oD
