blue elephants top

Over the weekend, I cut out a new top for myself. I used Simplicity 2599 view A shown in pink on the pattern envelope. I didn't put the fancy flowery bits around the neckline.

I've made this top before but I've always made the sleeveless version. I wanted to have sleeves on my new top so I had to do some redrawing of the pattern because I knew the sleeves in the pattern wouldn't fit my fat muscular arms. ;o) I am so pleased to say that the top fits me beeyooooootifully. I love it!

A close up view of the fabric - wee elephants. Aren't they gorgeous?

After I finished the top, I cut out some fabrics into pinnies (aprons) and bags.

Plenty there to keep me going for a wee while. :o)

  2. I love the elephant fabric, and I really like the cut of the top ...... one of these days I will knuckle down and do some dressmaking - I have a pattern for simple drawstring trousers that came free with a magazine that I want to make for the summer.

  3. The elephant fabric is wonderful and your top looks lovely. I'm impressed you created your own sleeves, I'm never that brave to mess with a pattern. Looks like you've got plenty to get on with for now, I really like the sweet jar fabric.

    1. Thanks, Ali. I've made soooooooo many tops and blouses which I've had to discard because the sleeves were too tight that I'm forcing myself to learn how to sort them. So far, so good! :o)

  4. That top really suits you, so well done with altering the sleeves. Looks like a lot of sewing in that pile.
    Take care.

    1. Thanks, Susan. The pile of sewing won't take me long if I just get on with it. Of course, I always get distracted ... :oD
