a lovely afternoon

I spent a lovely afternoon in my sewing room today doing some cutting out. Not oven gloves this time but a few blouses for myself. This is one I'm cutting out of a bed valance which I got on sale in Dunelm Mill a few weeks ago. It was a Double King size and it cost me something like £4.79! And it's pure cotton! A-ma-zing!

I went a bit daft and cut out 4 blouses altogether! And I also cut out another skirt - the turquoise with the cream daisies. Here they are in the crate waiting for me to start sewing them ... tomorrow, I hope.

It's a good thing I was having a lovely time in the sewing room because it was absolutely bucketing rain outside. All. Day. Long. My mum tells me we're meant to get warm weather at the weekend. I'm not going to hold my breath!

  1. I hate cutting out patterns but... if I'm gonna do it... I'm all for getting a bunch cut out at one time! Love your fabrics... happy sewing!

    1. Thanks, Freda. I enjoy cutting out most of the time but, when I do it, I do tend to do lots at a time! :o)

  3. What style blouse are you making? Are they all the same? I need to make myself some tops! Well if it makes you feel any better, it's been raining buckets here off and on for a couple of weeks. Thunderstorms every day! flooding everywhere....hope we all get some sun soon!

    1. These are all the same pattern, Linda. One I've made a million times before so I know it fits me! It's McCall's 5359 but I think it's out of print now.

  4. Sounds like a very productive time in your sewing room :) I love the daisy fabric and wouldn't mind having a summer skort in that one.

Hope you get the sewing done soon.

  5. Sunshine is definitely on the way, the Met Office have forecast it and I'm holding them to it. Looks like you're sewing some lovely summery clothes just in time.

    1. My fingers are tightly crossed that we get some decent weather soon and that the wee drop we had a couple of weeks ago wasn't our summer!

  6. How versatile are you a duvet into blouses, genius. I really like the blue and cream daisy fabric. I did wonder if you managed to get any sewing done today or have you been watching Andy. I really hope he wins this year, he so deserves it.

    1. I didn't get any sewing done and yes, I was glued to Andy on the telly. I honestly thought he was going to go out. Phew! :oD

  7. You're ever so busy, so hope all that summer sewing can be worn in your nice upcoming weather. It's actually been quite mild here for a couple of days after our very cold snap.

    1. I won't get the blouses worn this weekend unless I strap myself down to the sewing machine and get it done! I won't hold my breath about that either! LOL

  8. You are always so wonderfully productive, Anne! Love these fabrics too, what style blouses are you making? I'm making a concerted effort to tackle WIPs this week :-)
Have a happy weekend and enjoy the sunshine (I'm thinking ahead positively!)

    1. They're an old pattern that I've made a ton of times - McCall's 5359. It's out of print now. I really should start sewing - maybe tomorrow?? :oD
