sunrise ~ sunset 3 January

Instead of taking weekly photos of the back garden which, after all, stays pretty much the same year after year, I thought it might be interesting to watch the dawn to dusk chart thingy I have on my dashboard. Here it is for today:

So today's figures are:

dawn to dusk = 8 hours and 40 minutes

sunrise to sunset = 7 hours and 6 minutes.

I'm fascinated to see how quickly - or slowly - these figures change over the year.

  1. I think the figures will change quite quickly now we're passed the winter solstice. It'll be interesting to see. The wind has calmed down a little here today, though it was a different story yesterday. It was bin day and wheelie bins were flying past me down the road when I took the dog for a walk.

  2. I think there is a noticeable difference already - despite the dreary weather it is lighter later. We are very interested in the amount of daylight sice we installed the solar panels. Hope you'll pop over and sign up for my swap!!

  3. Unfortunately it's back to being a wee bit windy! But the sunrise/sunset thing sounds really interesting. You could even have a spreadsheet, charts and everything throughout the year!!

    Geeks rule okay!
