we're all going on a summer holiday …

It's true. We're off to Canada tomorrow to see Debbie and Jason and Molly. I'm really looking forward to it but, as always, it's tinged with sadness at leaving Joanna and Rosie behind.

I had thought about blogging every day when we're away, posting photos of what we'd been up to and where we'd been and the like but, you know, I've decided I'm not going to do that. I'm going to take 2 weeks away from the computer altogether. No Photoshop, no blog, no e-mails, no blog-hopping. I'm really looking forward to that bit as well!

The only thing I'll be doing in the least bit related to computers will be chatting to Joanna on the iChat. A modern mum has to keep in touch with her babies, you know!

So, if you're wondering why my blog has gone silent, that's why. Canada, here we come!

See you when we get back. :o)

a bit more sewing

I made the other vest yesterday and found the other blouse I'd made as well so I've now taken photos of both of those.

The vest - I think the white marks are the workings of the dummy showing through.

And the blouse:

And how they'll look together - the vest is more this colour than the one in the first photo.

lots of sewing

I've been doing a lot of sewing recently so I thought it was about time to update my blog with what I've been making.

Several vests like this:

As well as that deep bluey turquoisey colour, I've also made a deep pink one, a black one and 3 white ones all using the same pattern:

A couple of blouses:

This one reminds me of jammies!

A skirt I made at the weekend without a pattern. I got the idea from the Sew What! Skirts book but I changed so much of the pattern, it didn't end up much like the one in the book. Anyway, it fits me and I made it out of a remnant that only cost me £1.50! Amazing!

And, I made cushion covers for Debbie and Jason to sell in their store. 13 in total, 7 with envelope backs and 6 with zips.

Crumbs, I've been a busy bee! :oD

last Friday

Last Friday we had a gloriously sunny day. The only one we've had in about a month. Yep, May was a really rainy and cold month and I don't think we sat out once in May.

June started off the same way but, last Friday, things changed for the better so I headed out to the garden to take some photos.

Rosie wasn't too sure that she wanted to come out with me:

Chives complete with bee:

Our rhododendron with another bee - it's not the same bee!

The hydrangea's flower heads are just starting to grow.

Our sweet peas need some warmth to grow!

The strawberries are beginning to colour up:

My favourite part of the grass:

Rosie ventured out to see what I was up to:

And, after all that hard work, what's a girl to do? :oD

Of course, since last Friday, the weather has been cold or wet or windy - or all of the above. I'm glad I made the most of the one day of warmth! :o)
